what we do

In rural South Africa, 70% of children live in multidimensional poverty, where food insecurity is just one of many challenges.
Hunger Holds Kids Back
Hunger affects more than just stomachs—it stunts physical growth, delays cognitive development, and limits a child’s ability to learn, play, and dream. Food is a basic human right. But for too many children, it’s a daily uncertainty. To thrive, children need consistent access to nutritious meals—a foundation for health, learning, and a better future.

Our Programs Propel Kids Forward
At Ubuntu Mundo, everything starts with a meal.
We provide hot, nutritious meals to children. Every day. We create safe, welcoming spaces where they not only eat—but learn, celebrate, and feel a sense of belonging.

From our community kitchens and organic gardens to our commercial farm, we’re building a food system that does more than feed—it employs, empowers, and sustains.

And we’re growing—reaching more communities, feeding more children, and shaping a future full of possibility.

Local Kitchens
Our kitchens prepare daily meals with care: a protein, a starch, and fresh, organic vegetables grown in our own garden. Children arrive each day after school for nourishment for their growing bodies and minds.

We also welcome pregnant women and preschool age children, ensuring even the very youngest get the nutrition they need right from the start.

Local Gardens
We cultivate one hectare of farmland in the heart of the community. We organically grow beetroot, cabbage, carrot, onion, spinach and tomatoes.

These vegetables feed our children. Surplus produce is sold locally, giving families access to fresh, affordable food.
Our borehole is solar-powered, drawing water from a system that’s sustainable and resilient.

Commercial Farm: A Social Enterprise

From our fields to their futures—every pepper we grow helps feed a child and strengthen a community.

In a region where unemployment is high and healthy food is often out of reach, Ubuntu Mundo operates a 7-hectare farm that grows green peppers at commercial scale. But this is more than just a farm—it's a social enterprise designed to uplift communities, create jobs, and sustain our mission.

Our farm provides stable employment for local workers, in a region where unemployment tops 50%. Through hands-on agricultural training, we provide skills that extend beyond our fields - empowering our workers with tools to support their families and build a better future.

We’re committed to farming practices that care for the land and support long-term environmental health. Our operations are guided by sustainability—because feeding today’s children shouldn’t cost tomorrow’s resources.

Unlike traditional agribusinesses, 100% of the profits from our farm goes directly to our feeding program. This means the produce we sell helps fund nutritious meals for thousands of children—ensuring our programs are financially self-sustaining and resilient.
